Getting ready to leave today for Liberia and I am very nervous right now. Scared to be traveling alone and about the spiders when I get there. Those who know me know that I am very arachnophobic. Liberian spiders during the rainy season have been described as "massive" and "mammoth," and are about the size of my open hand ("five" sized). They just chill in the bedrooms. I know if I see one before I go to bed I will not be able to sleep. Please pray that they will stay away from me!
I will also miss William a crazy amount :( 11 weeks apart. Praying for good communication and that we both have a great and productive summer.
I will update this as soon as I can. Next message will be from Liberia!!!!

We just returned from taking Nicole to the airport - very emotional! Right now she is halfway to Belgium. She promised she will call. Nic, we will pray every day for those creepy things to be invisible!
ReplyDeleteYou're on your way! God is going to do great things through you and for you on this trip. Since I don't see how you'll be able to stay awake for 11 weeks, I'll be praying for you to be released of that fear - and maybe for a 50' no spider zone around you at all times!

ReplyDeletei love you nic!!!! fill your head and heart with words of confidence and peaceful assurance. that is my prayer for you during your travels. once you get there, my prayers will also include spider-fear, time apart from bill, and all your wonderful mission work you will be doing. you're going to do awesome, and i feel that once you get to liberia with your mission in focus and all your tasks at hand (not to mention being with other americans), your self-doubt will reverse into an "i can do this" attitude that i know you have! you won't regret this experience... (and may you be cured from arachnaphobia forever. maybe not. but, at least we know that "charlotte" will spin you some nice words in her web) ;)
